What is PixieStitch?

PixieStitch converts pixel art, photos, and sketches into cross-stitch patterns. Upload an image, adjust colours and grid size if you like, and export a pattern with DMC colour codes included.

What image formats can I upload?

We support common formats such as PNG, JPEG, and GIF. Pixel art works best when it's already low-resolution or clearly pixelated, but we can also simplify larger images.

How are DMC colours chosen?

We map your image colours to the closest DMC embroidery floss colours. You can edit the palette in the Studio before exporting if you want to swap colours or reduce the number used.

How do I export a pattern?

Create an account and use the "Export to pattern" option on any design. Exported patterns are saved to your account and can be downloaded as PDFs. Check the pricing page for plan limits.

Who owns the patterns I create?

You do. The images and patterns you upload and create remain yours. We only process them to generate charts and previews. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
